R U L E S
[/size]As much as we dislike the thought of disciplining members who do not follow the rules, to keep the forum a safe and enjoyable place to roleplay. We're not tyrants. If you have any questions, please contact a member of staff.General
- To conform to the Proboards ToS, VENI | VIDI | VICI is classed as PG-13, as you must be 13 years of age to create an account to begin with. However, mature and graphic threads are allowed if marked with [M] in the title.
- Respect both the staff and your fellow members. The staff are here to help you, not to be abused by you. Remember they carry the ban-hammer, and you sure don't want to be struck by it.
- Manners and courtesy are essential. Just because you're behind a screen doesn't mean you can treat others badly, so please, treat each other with respect and kindness.
- We all know that sometimes people don't get along. If you dislike a member of the forum, don't create drama by broadcasting it. If you have a bone to pick, please keep it to PM.
- Absolutely no God-Modding or Meta-gaming. Your character is not invincible, nor do they know things about other characters which are written in their biographies. If you meet a character who you know to be evil, your character doesn't know they are evil as they haven't interacted yet.
- We would like to class ourselves as a semi-literate to literate roleplay site, and therefore we have an In Character 150 word minimum post length. Failure to comply with the post length will mean intervention by a staff member.
- 150 words is not difficult to write. If you are stuck for ways to improve your posts, please look here for inspiration.Character
- As we are a stray canine RPG, the only characters which will be accepted are those in the genus 'canis familiaris'. Therefore, no wolves or wolf hybrids are allowed.
- If you're absolutely desperate to play a wolf, then gather enough prestige points to purchase the honour of roleplaying one.
- VENI | VIDI | VICI is a semi-realistic RPG, so a character cannot have weird and wonderful mutations such as wings, magical powers or radical fur colours.
- In addition to the above rule, characters are allowed to purchase small pieces of armour if you have enough credits.
- Be creative with your characters! Make your character unique, give them flaws and interesting attributes - remember that no one, not even Emperor Vespasian, is perfect.
- You can have as many characters as you like, as long as you can keep them reasonably active.Allegiances
- There are five possible allegiances for you to choose from - Rome, Sparta, Athens, Megara or you can choose to be a 'Free Man' and not be allied to a city state.
- If you are allied to Rome, the chances are your character will mainly post in the Italian boards; keep it realistic to the geography.
- However, a Roman character could quite easily end up in the Peloponnese if they felt like - just give an explanation as to why they are there in your posts.
For more information on the City-States, please check here.Fighting & Challenging
- City-states can challenge each other to full-scale battles over areas of territory. As an Alpha, you must choose a small number of willing characters (usually 3 or 4) to join you in the fight.
- In a territory challenge, each pair of characters has a different thread, each of which will be judged by the staff. The side with the greatest number of victories takes the territory.
- Once a character takes charge of a city-state, they are immune from challenging for 3 in-character months. This is to save constant bickering over territories.
- If a character challenges for a territory and loses, they cannot challenge for that state again until another character has taken charge. The exception to this is during a plot - but please notify the admins beforehand.
- Once your character has got themselves into a fight, please post in the Antebellum board to notify the staff about judging.
- All attacks must be open-ended. For example:
'Harry lunged toward Ben's leg and clamped down upon it, feeling the bone shatter beneath his grip.' This would be wrong, as you do not give your opponent the opportunity to react.
A better way of wording this would be:
'Harry lunged at Ben, longing to grasp his leg between his powerful jaws.'
- Equally, you cannot dodge every attack in a fight.
- For winning a fight, you will be awarded 120 prestige points. For losing, you will be awarded 60 prestige points.
